Step Over Fathers…June’s Not All About You This Year

By • Jun 8th, 2009

Father’s Day might fall in June, but this year women will be the focus of this month, at least at 12 Valley-area golf courses.

June is American Express Women’s Golf Month. Now in its fifth year, American Express Women’s Golf Month is a precedent-setting collaboration of the nation’s top golf organizations aimed at increasing the participation of women in golf. Scheduled to be held at golf facilities nationwide, American Express Women’s Golf Month will offer people 14 years of age and older free golf lessons and golf-related networking and social activities customized by each host facility.

There are 15 courses in Arizona participating, including 12 local to Phoenix.

The LPGA and PGA have joined forces to help more than 100,000 women to the game in the past five years in the form of free instruction and other golf-related activities, club fitting, equipment demo days and various contests.

Information and a list of participating courses are available at playgolfamerica.com .
