TPCJust outside of Phoenix, Arizona, in the center of the Sonoran Desert, is one of the finest American-west luxury vacation destinations, Scottsdale, Arizona. Scottsdale offers various activities from hiking and horseback riding in the McDowell Mountains to shopping and dining in old-town Scottsdale or at the luxury Fashion Square Mall. The area also boasts over 30 golf courses, some recognized as the finest in the Valley.

TPC Scottsdale, the home of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, is known as one of the top facilities in the US. The resort offers two championship-style courses—The Stadium Course and the Champions Course—fine dining, tour-quality golf instruction, and other luxury amenities.

TPC Scottsdale was the sixth edition to the TPC Network. Former PGA TOUR Commissioner Deane Berman wanted “to create a network of clubs that would embody the TOUR’s rigorous quality standards, provide unparalleled venues for TOUR events, and further advance the PGA TOUR’s charitable contributions.”

The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was the first to be constructed in 1986. Legendary architects Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish strategically designed the course for spectators to have a premium view for tournaments. The par-71 course remains open to the public 51 weeks of the year, which allows golfers to test their own skills on a PGA TOUR-quality golf course. The course is most famous for its par-3, 16th hole that turns into the “Coliseum” hole during the Phoenix Open. The remainder of this arizona golf course course offers a balanced, flat and desert-like layout that blends together challenge and playability.

The more recently designed Champions Course offers a similar golf experience to its famous sister course. The Randy Heckenkemper was built on the former site of the TPC Scottsdale Desert Course in 2007, and highlights the land’s natural ravines and desert. The par-71 features over 7,000 yards of Bermuda fairways, large and fast greens, and a layout that can be played a variety of ways. The finishing four holes are some of the most challenging, making for an interesting conclusion to the round.

In addition, TPC Scottsdale offers caddie services through Caddiemaster, a premier caddie management company. The caddies are PGA TOUR and TPC Scottsdale Ambassadors that are certified in pointing out locations and giving the best tips on both courses.

tpc1After a day on the course, players can enjoy food at The Grill, which overlooks the 18th hole on the Stadium Course. The restaurant serves its menu all day, offering an upscale take on traditional clubhouse staples.

Aside from playing, TPC Scottsdale offers premium instruction for all skill levels at its TOUR Academy. The teaching staff provides the most accurate advice using the most current state of the art technology and teaching equipment. Some of those technologies include video swing analysis—which allows the instructor to diagnose swing deficiencies from several angles, Flightscope Technology—which measures club head speed, trajectory, club face angle, ball spin, and The Torni Putting System—which gives the teaching pros the ability to capture and analyze the putting stroke.

Outside practice facilities include a first-class short game area, practice bunkers and a driving range.

All in all, TPC Scottsdale was built with the player in mind. The staff provides top-notch quality service that makes for an immaculate day spent out in the Arizona sun.
