Whirlwind Golf Club

Whirlwind Golf Club is located towards the east valley in the city of Chandler, AZ and offers 36 holes of championship golf, Cat Tail and Devils Claw. Both courses are a high-end desert layout with impeccable service and course conditions. The course is managed by Troon Golf and is part of an elite group of Arizona golf courses that offers a full desert golf experience with no housing on either golf course. The course offers a true test of what desert golf is pictured to be.

The Devil’s Claw golf course is the original course and is not as demanding as its sister course. Fairways on the Devils Claw golf course is more rolling, generous and gentle. The elevation changes are mild and the greens are multi-tiered. There is an abundance of sand waste areas located throughout the course that will test your skills of accuracy. Overall the golf course is relatively flat offering light forms of desert strategically placed randomly throughout the golf course.

The Cat Tail golf course is the newer of the two courses and is also considered the more difficult spread. Terrain is very similar on both golf courses; however, fairways are slightly less elevated than its sister course and lead into deep canyons and around three lake features. Cat Tail is a longer golf course and uses a decrease in elevation to emphasize its layout and design.

Scenic Fact: Hole # 7 at the Whirlwind Devil’s Claw course is a water hole called Dragonfly Falls. Unless you are playing from the front tee, you will be forced to carry your shot over the lake. There is a beautiful waterfall to the right of the green. Take pictures but avoid getting wet!
